There are two kinds of Administrators.

Those who have had a crisis....

And those who will.
 


  • It is invaluable as remediation for drivers or attendants having difficulty with student management issues, and/or
  • Employees who miss the annual state required continuing education program.
  • There is an “Are You There?”, function that prohibits jumping ahead or walking away from the computer. 
  • Employees can take the course on their down time or at home. 
  • They can stop at any time and return to the place they left off.
  • There are quizzes that must be passed with 80% minimum proficiency.
  • Upon completion of the course, participants can print a certificate that can be included in their file as evidence of participation.
  • Accepts all major credit cards, or fax a purchase order to 727-362-1984 along with your email address and a code will be mailed to you that allows access to the course.



Managing the Bus Environment On-line Course

This is a 4- hour continuing education course, focused on student management.

The course costs $24.95 per participant.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

    • Understand the importance of their role as an educator, teaching social skills.
    • Understand there are numerous factors that contribute to differing student expectations, behavior and experiences, such as; exposure to sex and violence, family structure, conflict resolution skills, and social isolationism. This contributes to differing ideas of normal behavior.
    • Understand the basic concepts of behavior modification to include; clearly communicated rules; positive reinforcement/ reinforcement density; minimal and progressive consequences for maladaptive behavior; and rewards for adaptive behavior.
    • Understand that developing a rapport with students will do more to contribute to a positive bus environment, reduce discipline problems and create a caring safe environment for everyone.
    • Understand the reasons students misbehave.
    • Learn the description of the behavior, the primary cause of misbehavior, and discipline tips to deal with the following behaviors:
      • The Agitator
      • The Angry
      • The Attention Demander
      • The Authority Pusher
      • The Bully
      • The Complainer
      • The Defier
      • The Disrespectful
      • The Disrupter
      • The Exploder

    • Learn three techniques for dealing with angry parents: the paradox/unexpected, verbal control and withdrawal.
    • Discuss options for dealing with an explosive situation with parents.
    • Learn how to prevent bullying and harassment.
    • Learn how to deal with a bullying incident.
    • Learn how to document a bullying incident.
    • Discuss three incidents that escalated due to bullying that was not curtailed and brainstorm how to prevent it.
    • Learn general guidelines to breaking up fights without getting physical.
    • Discuss options to avoid escalation of negative student behavior.
    • Discuss options when a student reports a problem at the bus stop.
    • Learn the actions that could escalate major misbehavior.
    • Learn methods to prevent major confrontations.
    • Participate in discussion of alternative actions that may have prevented various situations that resulted in an attack by the student.
    • Evaluate situations where discipline went wrong and discuss positive alternatives.
    • Learn about common pitfalls that can cause situations to escalate.
    • Learn appropriate consequences for students who do not abide by the rules.
    • Understand the importance of their role as an educator, teaching social skills.
    • Understand the difference between good and bad behavior vs. adaptive and maladaptive behavior.
    • Understand the basic concepts of assertive discipline that apply to the bus environment.
    • Understand that developing a rapport with students will do more to contribute to a positive bus environment, reduce discipline problems and create a caring safe environment for everyone.
    • Understand six myths about student management.
    • Understand the ten most common behavior management mistakes drivers (educators) make.
    • Understand some tricks of the trade.
    • Understand twelve actions that can escalate misbehavior.
    • Understand some helpful hints in dealing with students.
    • Understand what a fiduciary relationship is and how that relates to their interaction with students.
    • Learn about appropriate boundaries.
    • Learn about appropriate and inappropriate touch.
    • Learn how favoritism affects driver / student relations.
    • Learn the problems that can occur when social networking with students.
    • Learn guidelines for using social networking sites as it relates to “friending” students and the content of messages.
    • Learn strategies for overcoming stereotypes and biases
    • Learn how to rectify language patterns or case examples that exclude or demean any group.
    • Learn to be sensitive to terminology
    • Learn the extent of diversity in our world.
    • Learn that the school bus is not the place for stereotypical, homophobic, racial, and/or biased comments.
